Kazakhstan weather overview

Kazakhstan is a large country in the driest part of the former Soviet Union and is a land of desert and plains. Summers can be extremely hot, although low humidity prevents conditions from becoming unbearable. Sunshine levels are high throughout the year, averaging 4 hours a day in the winter and 9 to 10 in the summer but winters are very cold unless you head for the shores of the Caspian Sea, where conditions are milder.

What to pack for Kazakhstan weather

Take light clothing in the summer and warm to heavy clothing for the winter months. Rainfall is generally low but can occur at any time of the year, so be prepared.
