What if I've never skied before?
All of the ski holiday companies we work with can arrange ski lessons in some form or other. It's best to do a bit of research, find out what's available, and what suits you best.
You might find that booking your lessons separately on arrival is more cost effective or relevant to you, for example. Just be sure to check the small print and see if lessons are included in the price of your holiday, or if you have to pay extra.
Does my holiday include extras like ski hire & lift passes?
Kit hire - including skis, poles etc - isn't usually included in the price of your holiday, however, there are often special ski deals which may offer a discount if you book within a certain period.
As for ski passes, this depends so much on the type of holiday you book and who you book it with. Make sure you read the small print before you book to see what is and isn't included in your skiing holiday for 2021/2022.
Skiing vs snowboarding: which is better?
Ah, the age old question which has no right answer, although most people will pick a side.
Although we refer to skiing holidays, snowboarding is increasingly popular, with many people embarking on snowboard-only breaks, and the good news is that all of the above companies we have mentioned and that have some top money saving deals for 2021/2022, not only encourage both sports but in most cases can arrange lessons in both as well.
If you're interested in finding out more about learning to ski or snowboard, check out the lessons available at your resort before booking. In answer to the question - well, you'll just have to get out there and decide for yourself...
What's cross country skiing?
Instead of hurtling downhill, cross country skiing takes you literally across the countryside - no lifts to help you here: it's all about propelling yourself forward by transferring your weight from one ski to the other for a truly different kind of skiing experience.
What's après ski all about?
Après ski, meaning simply 'after ski', is what many skiers would say makes a skiing holiday.
After a long and physical day on the slopes, whatever you level, 'après ski' is the art of indulging in some serious entertainment, usually in the form of live music on beautiful balconies offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountainscape.
Think Champagne popping, warming gluhwein, rugs, outdoor heaters, deliciously carb-heavy meals, and lots of worn out but party-ready skiers.
What else can you do on a skiing holiday if you don't ski?
Not everyone who enjoys a 'ski' holiday actually skis. If your other half or friends are keen to book a ski break but you're apprehensive about what else you might be able to do, do a little research into your chosen destination.
It also depends on where exactly you stay; you may want to ensure you book somewhere with spa and fitness facilities, for example.
If you're not keen to try any of the ski or snowboarding lessons, you could always sample the local restaurants, café and bars (which most resorts have an ample supply of).
You may also be able to try other winter activities such as dog sledding in Finland, snowmobiling in Norway, or snowshoeing (a type of hiking) in Switzerland, for example.
A ski break for non-skiers is also a great chance to just chill and enjoy some time out before the rest return weary from the slopes.
As you can see, there's such variety when it comes to finding the right skiing holiday. No matter if you're a novice or a seasoned expert, on a budget or after something all encompassing - the wide selection of holidays and online ski deals available for 2021/2022 will ensure you settle on the right resort and ski package for you.
