Djibouti weather overview
Djibouti is a small country that lies between Ethiopia and the Somalia at the entrance to the Red Sea, and has a coastline bordering the Gulf of Aden. Its climate is predominantly hot and dry, what little rainfall there is occurring on the coast between November and March, and on the vast inland plains between April and October.
Rainfall rarely rises above 25mm (1 inch) in any one month but summer downpours inland can be brief but intense. Go prepared for long, hot, sunny days - Djibouti receives an average nine hours of sunshine throughout the year. The hottest months are June to August, when the dust-laden Khamsin winds blow in from the desert regions.
