Marella Cruises' current fleet of five ships all differ, as the chart below demonstrates, in size, facilities and feel. One of the biggest is Marella Explorer, whose contemporary finish accompanies a large spa, a stylish bar and casino space, kids' club, cinema, sports deck and a host of superb dining options.
Its sister ship, Marella Explorer 2, has similar amenities but is exclusively for adults and throws in a luxury sunbathing area, The Veranda.
Offering plenty of exciting activities such as an outdoor cinema, rock-climbing wall, indoor swimming pool and a mini-golf course, the Marella Discovery is very family-friendly. As is its sister ship, Marella Discovery 2, which offers most of the same fantastic facilities, as well as a program of Broadway-style performances every night in the show lounge.
After setting sail for the first time in June 2023, Marella Voyager is the newest member of the gang. It comes complete with over 25 bars and restaurants, an indoor cinema, a mini-golf course, a huge show lounge and a pool deck with a whirlpool and swimming pool, guaranteeing an unforgettable time onboard.

Life onboard
Each of Marella's cruise ships affords a distinct array of dining options, including a minimum of seven international restaurants, from sizzling steakhouses to Spanish tapas restaurants. There are also plenty of options between meals, such as midnight buffets and grab-and-go snack bars.
Most are covered in the all-inclusive rate, with only speciality dining choices, such as the meat-loving Surf & Turf Steakhouses, costing extra.
The bar options are just as vast, with none more memorable than Marella Explorer 2's The 19th Hole, a clubhouse-inspired den with golf simulators. Meanwhile, Flutes on Marella Voyager and Marella Explorer 2 is the perfect place to sip a glass of Champers while a pianist plays next to you.
Diversity of choice also underpins the ships' entertainment menus, which have won various public-voted gongs. Expect everything from West End-style shows and late-night dancing to trivia quizzes, cooking classes and early-morning exercise classes.
With the exception of adults-only Marella Explorer 2, there's a lot to keep smaller guests happy, too, from splashing around in the designated pools to enjoying the fun of the family-friendly evening shows.
Marella ships also have a free kids' club for those aged three to 11, with plenty of fun-filled activities on offer, including mini discos and arts and crafts. Meanwhile, the restaurants have dedicated children's menus and (perhaps more importantly) plenty of ice cream.

Repositioning & Transatlantic cruises
With a standard cruise, you can usually expect to enjoy a round trip. However, a repositioning cruise is slightly different in that it starts in one port and ends in another.
Usually, repositioning cruises take place towards the end of the season – a cruise ship might start in Europe and finish in the Caribbean during winter, for example. However, not all repositioning cruises involve departing across the Atlantic. The cruise might start in one Mediterranean port and end in another.
There are many benefits to choosing a repositioning cruise. For example, it's a great chance to tailor your itinerary to see more of the world, and you can choose a cruise duration of five or 21 nights. Plus, with more days at sea, you'll have more time to enjoy the line-up of additional shows and extended entertainment options that you won't find on a standard cruise.

To browse and book shore excursions, you'll need to visit the Marella Cruises website or contact your Travel Advisor if you're booking via a TUI Holiday Store. You can also book excursions onboard; however, tours get booked up quickly, so it's best to book in advance.
In order to help you choose the most suitable shore excursion for you, Marella Cruises organise each activity into four categories: Energetic, Active, Moderate and Easy. They also provide hints and tips, which advise on the amount of walking involved.
If you're a wheelchair user or less-mobile passenger, please note that it's not normally possible to participate in organised shore excursions unless you're able to manage the steps on and off a bus without assistance.
Cruise Control
Once you've made your booking with Marella Cruises, you can access its pre-holiday platform to book everything you need in advance of your cruise, from spa treatments and speciality dining to life-changing excursions that have long been on your bucket list.

FAQs
How do I pay for things aboard?
All ships are cashless and items are charged to your cabin account in pound sterling. Your account will open when you board the ship. At the end of your cruise, you can then choose to settle up by credit/debit card or by cash. If you pay in cash, you'll be asked for a deposit of up to £200 per cabin per week. All Marella Cruise ships accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards, as well as Delta debit cards. At check-in, you'll need to register your credit or debit card.
Do I need to tip?
No. All tipping and service charges are included in the price*, so you're not expected to add anything else. But of course, if you want to tip a crew member, you're very welcome to do so.
Can I make changes to my booking?
Yes. If you need to make changes to your cruise booking, such as changing your cruise to a different one or upgrading or changing your room cabin, you can do so by heading to Manage My Booking or using your Customer Account on the Marella Cruises website.
Booked your cruise in one of the TUI shops? You'll need to contact the store or the TUI Hotel and Travel Services team. If you booked your cruise through another company, you'll need to go back to the travel agent you booked with.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes, Wi-Fi is available on all Marella Cruises ships, and there are designated Wi-Fi zones onboard. Access is charged to your cabin account at the onboard rate. You can also use mobiles, and each cabin has a telephone.
Please note that Wi-Fi connectivity on Marella's Nile cruises can be poor because of the location.

Does Marella Cruises cater for all diets?
It does. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, as well as milk alternatives, are available as standard. You'll just need to remember to mention any dietary requirements to the Restaurant Manager onboard.
If you need to bring your own food onboard for medical reasons, please let the Marella Cruises team know in advance so it can ensure it has the correct facilities to store and prepare it. Please note that we may not be able to accommodate all requests.
Can I do my own thing in ports?
Yes. If you don't fancy any of the guided excursions on offer*, it's possible to do your own thing in most ports. It's highly recommended to do some research first, though. Find out what the must-dos (and don'ts) are and the prices you should expect to pay for public transport. Oh, and most importantly, make sure you're back at the time advertised on the gangway for your departure, as the ship won't wait!
