Outside of the rainy season months, much of Vietnam is virtually dry. Exceptions to this are parts of the central highlands which experience most of their rain between September and January.

The south of Vietnam is warmest and sunniest during the dry winter months. In the north, there is very little sun and cold fronts blowing in from China reduce temperatures.
