By the middle of February, Gran Canaria is at its greenest, which means it's a great time for getting out and about exploring the island's interior. It's warm but not hot and there's usually a good day's sunshine aside from a few passing clouds.

Why not go walking in the dunes at Maspalomas, try an adrenaline-pumping activity like paragliding or visit one the island's many attractions, such as the wild west ways of Sioux City. There's also Cocodrilo Park, Los Corralillos, for getting up close to crocs and tigers.

It's the perfect time for anyone looking to train for sports. The streets are quiet and you can jog, hike and cycle safely without constantly dodging the crowds.

Head to Nissi Beach for sea views, or explore the forests of Cape Greco. There are many things to keep you busy in Cyprus in February.

3. Costa Blanca, Spain

If you want to avoid the crowds and don't mind slightly cooler weather, then February is an ideal time to visit Costa Blanca. It's beginning to get warmer as spring approaches but make sure you bring something to wrap up in as the evenings will still be chilly.

You can take advantage of the carnival festivities that take place during the month and enjoy an extra hour of sunshine on the beach. There will be plenty of time to explore beautiful Costa Blanca in this refreshing climate.

4. Majorca, Balearic Islands

Don't forget your suncream though as although it's cooler than summer months you could still catch the sun when out and about. Immerse yourself in the culture, visiting the various local markets, bars and restaurants and Cap de Formentor, one of the most popular attractions in Majorca.

5. The Algarve, Portugal

Escape the crowds and visit the Algarve in February to appreciate its pleasant wintry weather. Albeit cooler than the summer months, you will still be able to take trips to the many beaches including Praia da Luz. You'll need to wrap up in the evenings but the fabulous selection of bars and restaurants will be open for you to enjoy.

As for things to do visit St. Lawrence's Church for impressive architecture and carvings, and the Castle of Silves for a hilltop fort with amazing sea views.

6. Madeira

Madeira makes for a lovely winter island sun escape. Although there can be rain, you will also get a fair amount of warm and sunny weather.

The cooler temperatures are perfect for explorers to climb Pico Ruivo, Madeira island's highest mountain only accessible by foot. The expansive views make it worth the hike.

Alternatively, you can visit Madeira's Botanical Garden or various other attractions such as Santa Catarina Park and São Vicente Caves.

This enchanting city is great for both children and adults, with new colours, scents, and curiosities at every turn. In February, Marrakech is simply lovely and fresh, with warm days, cool nights and a good showing of sunshine. Do pack layers though, as the temperature drops after sunset to around 8°C.

As for things to do, on top of the range of exciting trips to the Atlas Mountains, Ouzoud Falls, Essaouira and more, take your pick from the city's many attractions including the souk, beautiful Le Jardin Majorelle and the YSL Museum.

2. Seville, Spain

Seductive Seville is sure to win you over with its historic centre of palaces, baroque churches and winding medieval lanes. If you prefer fewer crowds then February is a good time to explore Seville.

You will have reasonably warm temperatures throughout the day, which will be perfect for outdoor activities and sightseeing. However, be prepared for some passing rain and cooler evenings.

There's plenty in this city to keep everyone busy. Seville Cathedral is an absolute must visit along with Plaza de España, the city's most graceful square. During February there are a few carnivals and festivals to look out for as well; the colourful parades and dancing are not to be missed.

Dubai in February is, in many ways, much like the Canary Islands in summer. Daytimes are warm and evenings a little cooler at around 14°C. Unlike other times of the year, there's no heat and humidity, a full day's sunshine, and only passing cloud.

You may want to find a heated pool as the sea is fine for water sports but certainly not as balmy as later in the year. As for things to do away from the beach there's the games and rides of SEGA Republic, and the Lost Chambers Aquarium at Atlantis The Palm Dubai.

It's one of the driest months of the year so it's the ideal destination if you want to escape the gloomy UK winter weather and visit the beaches. There's always lots going on in Miami so there will be ample opportunities for you to entertain yourself. 6. Valletta, Malta

Valletta is a sophisticated city full of quaint cafés and wine bars. Most famous for the buildings by the Knights of St. John, this UNESCO World Heritage site is home to art, cathedrals, and museums galore.

February brings spring-like temperatures with highs of 15°C, however, it can also sink to lows of 9°C so warm clothing is still advised. Walks along the beach will be pleasant but you may want to stick to indoor swimming pools for a dip during this month.

For things to do, check out Saint John's Co-Cathedral the 16th-century high baroque cathedral or admire the scenic views at Grand Harbour. Also, don't forget to visit the Lower and Upper Barrakka Gardens for sea views and beautiful flowers.

Goa is a popular holiday destination all year round but February is one of the best months to visit with huge amounts of sunshine and almost no chance of rain. Be prepared for the heat as it can reach highs of 32°C but it's perfect for beach days and swims in the Arabian Sea.

Goa is more than just beaches and Vindaloo, however: it's 17th-century churches, tropical spice plantations, history by the bundle, and waterfalls. Visit Dudhsagar Falls the four-tiered waterfall and Shanta Durga Temple, the elegant Hindu temple for the best of Goa.

It's famed for its stunning beaches, many which you'll be able to take advantage of during February half term, including Bottom Bay and Miami Beach.

Botanical gardens, the Harrison's Cave and 17th-century plantation houses should also be on your itinerary when visiting. You'll be in paradise when on this Caribbean island that has it all.

3. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

There's a chance you might see some rain, but only the kind that moves on quickly. For families, as well as kids' clubs, pools and playgrounds found at the many resorts on the coast there's also snorkelling, safaris, zip lining, boat trips and more.

If you don't want sweltering heat then you have picked the best month to visit Antigua. As long as you don't mind a little rain here and there you can enjoy warm temperatures, sea, and sun during February half term. It'll be just like summer without the uncomfortable humidity.

This dreamy destination offers so much. It's full of history, culture, snorkelling, delicious local cuisine and exciting nightlife. Some of its highlights include Shirley Heights, Nelson's Dockyard and the Donkey Sanctuary.

The great thing about going during February half term is there will be fewer crowds. You can take a desert safari, swim with the dolphins, hit the beach, explore the ancient city of Luxor and even indulge in some retail therapy in El Quseir.
