Why fly with Jet Airways?

Jet Airways began operations in Mumbai in 1993, and last year were trusted by over 23 million passengers. In 2024/2025 the airline will fly even more people to 65 destinations worldwide on a fleet of 112 aircraft.

As winner of the TripAdvisor Traveller's Choice Award for 'Best Indian Airline' in 2017, Jet Airways operates codeshare flights with 20 household name airlines including national carriers like Etihad and KLM, and can take you across the world, from their five bases around India and new European hub in Amsterdam.

The airline is well-regarded for punctuality and service, and sits at the forefront of passenger innovation, allowing customers to check the status of a flight, discover Jet Airways lowest fares, and even check-in all via twitter with the hashtag #JetInstant.

Then there's #JetAdvance, which lets you 'prepone' your flight - switching to an earlier flight if you arrive at the airport early, and for 2017 the price for the service is INR 3,000 (around £36).

Flying with Jet Airways

Jet Airways has two classes of cabin for domestic travellers - economy and Première, which is the equivalent of business class. The same classes are available on international routes with the addition of first class.

Tip: find out more about what's available in each class with Jet Airways

As a full-service airline Jet Airways serves food in all classes on all routes, from snacks on the shortest domestic economy flights to personalised five-course meals and glasses of Bollinger in long haul first class cabins.

However, as with all airlines in India, no alcohol is served on domestic flights. Read on to find out more about what's waiting on board your Jet Airways flight, whichever class you travel in.

Jet Airways economy class

Flying within India on Jet Airways you'll most likely be aboard a Boeing 737-800, laid out in a standard 3-3 configuration, with 30 inch seat pitch and 17 inch width.

International standard class flights with Jet Airways include ergonomically designed seats, a special headrest, and also offer personalised inflight entertainment with a touch screen TV.

Jet Airways Première - business class

On domestic flights, Première class is a cut above many airlines' business class option, with superior catering choices and, depending on the aircraft, a 2-2 seating pattern in either the first two or three rows of the plane.

For longer flights Jet Airways Première class is available on multiple routes and aircraft, including the Airbus A330-200 and Boeing 777.

As a Première class passenger, you can enjoy the massage setting, lie-flat bed, herringbone formation and work, rest or simply be entertained with on demand movies, TV shows and music.

There's a socket for your laptop as well as your own large touch screen LCD TV. With 'Dine Anytime' catering, you can eat what and when you want - including popcorn to accompany your movie.

Jet Airways first class

First class long haul travel is as plush an experience as you can enjoy in the skies. Kicking off with a luxurious lounge pass (depending on your departure airport), once aboard you'll enjoy a welcome drink in your private suite complete with mood lighting, your own wardrobe and an amenity kit including pyjamas.

Add a large flat screen TV and a set of Bose noise cancelling headphones, and you'll soon be winging your way to your destination in style.

Jet Airways baggage allowance

International baggage allowances with Jet Airways

If you're flying internationally with Jet Airways you'll need to know the cabin baggage rules: in all classes of travel you can bring an item on board with you (maximum size: 55 cm x 35 cm x 25 cm) weighing up to 10 kg in first and Première, 7 kg in economy. Plus all travellers can have a laptop bag or personal bag.

Tip: any passengers flying from India to the USA should see the latest regulations regarding electronic items in your cabin baggage plus other restrictions in various destinations.

For hold baggage, rules and limits vary based on route, ticket, booking period and the country in which your ticket was purchased. Use the Jet Airways baggage allowance calculator to find the exact weight and size allowance for your fare.

Fact: the maximum weight for a single bag when flying with Jet Airways is always 32 kg

With so many codeshare flights on offer, travelling on a Jet Airways flight often involves a journey with a partner airline, and may mean the other carrier's baggage allowances supersede Jet Airways' own restrictions, so check the Jet Airways baggage allowance on a partner airline route as well.

Baggage allowances for Jet Airways domestic flights within India

Passengers flying within India can bring one piece of baggage based on government rules. Internal routes on an ATR aircraft restrict baggage dimensions to 50 cm x 45 cm x 20 cm, while Boeing routes require that bags do not exceed 55 cm x 35 cm x 25 cm, always with a maximum weight of 7 kg (though exceptions are made for JetPrivilege and Première passengers).

For hold baggage the standard domestic allowance is 15 kg but you can check your specific restrictions using the online baggage calculator from Jet Airways.
