Why fly with Air New Zealand?

Air New Zealand launched under a different name in 1940, and has since been ferrying passengers worldwide as the flag carrier for the country. Its main hub is in Auckland, with other bases in Wellington, Christchurch and Sydney Australia.

Today, the main focus of Air New Zealand's offering for UK passengers is its routes east to Auckland.

Fare types

Air New Zealand offers four main fare types on its long haul flights, although these can vary depending on which aircraft you fly with:

Typically Air New Zealand operates two different Boeing models, the 777-300 and the 777-200. As the 777-300 is most commonly used, the following information is based on this aircraft.

Air New Zealand Economy

Air New Zealand's Economy seat is anything but basic with generous spacing, touchscreen TV, and even a disappearing armrest if you just want to get it out of the way.

Lose yourself in more than 500 hours of content, from films and box sets to video games, and a special section of cartoons and shows just for kids.

There's also USB and iPod ports if you want to listen to or watch your own entertainment. Food wise, not only will you enjoy hot meals onboard, you can also order snacks directly from your touchscreen TV, so there's now waiting around if you're hungry.

Air New Zealand Economy Skycouch

The Skycouch from Air New Zealand is an innovative way to let you make the most of the space available. Put simply, it's a three seater that can be used as seats for three or as 'sofa' style seating for a couple, more space for kids - whatever suits.

There are also independent leg rests offering added comfort. The Skycouch seats are available for long haul journeys to/from London and Auckland.

Air New Zealand Premium Economy

It's all about the Spaceseat in Premium Economy, which has been carefully designed to ensure passengers cannot recline onto one another, while still giving ample room to relax and get comfy.

The inner cabin seats are ideal for couples, while the outside seats are better suited to those working hard or travelling solo with added privacy.

To keep you entertained, Air New Zealand's comprehensive range of TV shows, films, music, audiobooks and more is on hand. Food wise, you can choose from a tempting menu as well as a fine selection of New Zealand wines. As with Economy, you can also order a snack directly from your touchscreen TV.

Air New Zealand Business Premier

The Business Premier cabin is perfect for those after a touch of luxury in the sky. Relax in a wide leather seat before it reclines into a fully flat bed, complete with duvet and thick pillows for a restful night's sleep.

Pick from a huge choice of films, TV shows, radio programmes and more with the added touch of being able to enjoy them in utter privacy thanks to noise cancelling headphones.

When it comes to food, you'll sample specially created dishes in true fine dining style, and be able to choose from an extensive wine list. If you get peckish, simply order a snack through your extra wide touchscreen TV at any point during the flight.

Your Business Premier experience doesn't start and end on the plane however: make the most of a premium check in service, relax in an airport lounge pre flight, and benefit from the amenities kit you'll receive on board.

Non-EU Business Premier passengers will also be able to use immigration's Fast Track service at London Heathrow.

Travelling with kids
