Bali Weather Summary
Bali is one of many islands in the volcanic chain that stretches across almost the full extent of Indonesia from the Andaman Sea in the north-west to the Arafura Sea in the east. It lies just off the east coast of Java 8.5 degrees south of the equator. Famous for its Hindu religious heritage and its artistic traditions Bali is a very beautiful fertile island with a hot tropical climate.

The weather in Bali is warm to hot at all times of year with a southern hemisphere summer wet season and a winter dry season. The wet season lasts from the beginning of November to the end of March when, at higher elevations, rain tends to fall most afternoons, while near the coast there can be days without rain.
In the south of the island for example at Kuta and Sanur even during January, which is considered to be the height of the wet season, there are still usually 8 hours of sunshine a day, and temperatures range on average from 22°C at night to 32°C during the day.
Bali is therefore a year round holiday destination with great weather conditions in all months. However from June to September the weather is truly superb with less humidity, more sunshine, bluer skies and cooler temperatures at night, at least by a couple of degrees. It is also the time of year when there are noticeably more flowering trees and shrubs in bloom.
Being so close to the equator Bali lies outside the track of tropical storms that form or pass by to the south, so there is no chance of a direct hit by one of these cyclones. However between December and April there is a small chance that the island can be affected by storms that come within 500 to 600 kilometres, causing a few days of cloud and rain.
What to Pack
Light cotton clothes are suitable year round in Bali since even at night temperatures only rarely fall below 20°C. In fact the only time you are likely to feel cold is if you go into the mountains without suitable protection against the elements and get caught in a downpour during the rainy season.
