Crete Weather Summary
By far the largest of the Greek islands, Crete has a climate all of its own and weather conditions vary considerably from north to south. Even at the height of summer, the north of the island can be made chilly by the Aegean winds which can blow up to gale force and bring clouds in their wake.

The great spine of mountains which dominates the centre of the island attracts cloud and some light rain in the summer and snow and frost in the winter. However, the island's south, which lies almost at the southernmost tip of Europe, is blessed with wonderful weather and experiences long spells of cloudless sunshine in the summer and high temperatures even in the winter months.
What to Pack
Light clothes are fine in the summer, supplemented by slightly warmer attire in the autumn and winter. Further north, take warm cover-ups against the wind and if visiting the mountains.
