Etihad Airways marks 20 years flying to London Heathrow
This week, national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad Airways*, celebrated two decades of transporting travellers from London Heathrow to the capital of the UAE*.
The multi-award-winning airline has carried more than 10 million passengers between the UK and Abu Dhabi*, with many venturing on to Dubai* or further around the world, since its first flight landed in March 2004.
It launched the service to London from Abu Dhabi with three flights per week and today, operates four flights daily onboard both Airbus A380s and Boeing's 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
Jeremy Pollock, Etihad Airways Country Manager UK and Ireland, said: "Introducing flights from London Heathrow to Abu Dhabi was a key part of the airline's strategy following the carrier's launch in 2003.
"To celebrate 20 years since our inaugural flight is a fantastic achievement for everyone connected with Etihad Airways, especially our dedicated workforce across the UK and Ireland."
